Chicago hosted this year’s Ryder Cup. I headed north, armed with a HDX 900 and Nano Flash. I love working in Chicago. Oh hey, by the way, did you know we have a Chicago cameraman now? Well, now you know. He was there too working for Mercedes. Focus, Roggg, focus.
I was there for three days shooting for PGA.Com. The producer requested the Nano Flash because he was editing footage together as soon as it was shot. He didn’t want to wait for tapes to be digitized. I don’t blame him.
The first day we covered the Pro Am Celebrity Tournament. Celebrities like Bill Murray, Michael Phleps, and Justin Timberlake roamed the course. I filmed all of them teeing off and goofing off. Later in the day I filmed a few short segments on the unique holes that Medinah Country Club has to offer with Craig Sager. The next day we went out and shot b-roll of the course holes we profiled with Mr. Sager the day before. We then shot bleacher report in front of the clubhouse. The second day was capped off with a “sights and sounds” piece with Craig Sager.
On the third day we filmed American Captain, Davis Love, meeting some veterans. Later in the day we shot some more b-roll of Medinah Country Club and then we were wrapped. I had such a great time with PGA.com. We were constantly shooting something so these three days flew by. I can’t wait to shoot for them again.
