About Zach
- What cameras and equipment have you worked with the most?
The camera I have worked with the most is going to be the Sony Fx9 and Fs5 which I have in my kit. I have also worked extensively with the Canon C300. I have a lot of experience with several DSLRs including the Sony a7sii (which is also in my kit) as well as the Canon 5D. Recently I had the experiencing of using and shooting with the Arri Alexa Mini and absolutely fell in love with that camera. These are just the cameras I have worked a lot with but can manage just about any camera thrown my way.
- Do you specialize in a specific shoot style?
I would say I specialize in a lot of different styles a “Zach of all trades” if you will. I personally lean towards a more narrative and documentary style trying to make impactful camera framing and stylistic choices to enhance the story. With that being said I have a ton of experience in sports, entertainment, corporate and news. I try to bring a creative outlook to everything I do but also understand the type of story I am trying to capture and do what is best for the current situation.
- How long have you been filming?
I have had a camera in my hands since I was a kid. I started taking pictures while backpacking throughout California during my Eagle Scout days. I later got into video and never looked back. I have been in production professionally for the last 10 years and have been more exclusively a camera operator and DP for the last six years.
- Do you have a favorite project you’ve worked on?
I have worked on so many great projects through the years, but definitely, some of my favorites have been with Sammy Hagar’s Rock & Roll Road Trip. I’ve done several of those and have met some iconic musicians that I am huge fans of. Doing an interview with Roger Daltrey from The Who was definitely a highlight. I love working in San Francisco and the Bay Area. There are so many different types of shoots and opportunities for great stories. I get to go to some of the biggest companies in the world like Apple, Google, Facebook, etc. I then also get to work on several sports shoots with so many professional teams in this area (football, basketball, soccer, hockey). Not to mention San Francisco is such an iconic place it brings a lot of destination type shoots.
