Timothy Wolfer is an Emmy-winning journalist and filmmaker based in the Washington, DC area. Over the course of his career, he has worked in more than 40 countries, covering humanitarian crises, migration, conflict, and politics. Most recently, he was nominated as a director for two News & Documentary Emmy Awards for his work with More Perfect Union. His work has taken him around the world, including South Sudan to document civil conflict, Bangladesh to cover Rohingya refugees fleeing Myanmar, Cuba as the country first opened to U.S. humanitarian assistance, and Haiti in the aftermath of the 2010 earthquake. His feature documentary, The Right Girls, follows a group of transgender women traveling to the U.S. border with the 2018 migrant caravan. The film was distributed on Amazon, iTunes, and Google Play. On January 6, 2021, Wolfer was on the steps of the U.S. Capitol covering the attack for The New York Times as a mob breached the building. In 2022, he was among the last international journalists to leave Mariupol, Ukraine, during the opening weeks of Russia's full-scale invasion, producing 21 reported video pieces for NPR documenting the conflict.
