About Sara

l have extensive experience filming long-lens of wildlife, aerial filming with drones, handheld gimbal, phantom high speed camera, and camera traps, among many other systems. With these systems I am adept at filming natural history animal behavior, sync actuality/verité, expeditions and adventure, and interviews. I am comfortable with ARRI, RED, Canon, Sony and DJI systems. Often I am using several of these techniques and systems during a shoot to cover the full sequence and to tell the story from all angles. I enjoy using the natural light provided in the best way possible, and adding or manipulating it where possible to produce the best image possible in documentary situations. Most of my work has been for National Geographic/ Disney+ and PBS, and I have also worked on smaller projects telling local conservation stories. My work has taken me across the country from Florida to Alaska, as well as internationally to places like Antarctica, South Africa, and Madagascar, making me adaptable to a variety of habitats and climates. I also work as a video engineer aboard Dr. Robert Ballard's Exploration Vessel Nautilus, remotely controlling cameras that are on Remotely Operated Vehicles (ROVs), and broadcasting these unmanned dives on Nautilus Live during deep sea exploration. I am keen to expand my work in the Pacific Northwest - to use my skills to tell local stories and highlight our rich wildlife and diverse ecosystems.
