About Dave

Dave Perry is a Local 600 Director of Photography for independent film production, broadcast, and corporate. Since 2003, Dave has worked with talented directors, producers, production companies, and agencies from Virginia to Florida to California to create powerful, award winning work. His critical eye for composition is evident in his compelling cinematography. Dave’s creative career started in 1986 in the dinnerware and giftware business, designing and producing products for production potteries in Virginia and Maine. Working in that field until 1999, he learned a lot about efficient production, working on a design team, working with various clients, managing and meeting budgets and deadlines. Those skills have served him well in everything he’s done since then. In 1998, Dave’s digital media and graphics design skills were cultivated when he undertook the design of a web site for his employer. Dave has been involved in some sort of media production professionally ever since. From the mid 80’s into early 90’s Dave was a professional musician playing up to 150 shows a year with his band Echoes Farm. Dave has been a photographer all of his life and has worked in video since 2003. In 2013 he started his production company Dave Perry Cinematographer LLC with the emphasis of moving into motion picture production. Although DPC-LLC continues to offer post production and has expanded its post production staff, Dave has focused his energy on working as a Director of Photography in narrative filmmaking, documentary, and corporate filmmaking. As a Director of Photography he has gained valuable experience at assembling production crews. He’s also a gear head at heart. Dave loves cars, motorcycles, cameras, and machines of any kind. He loves the sound of a small block Ford V-8 at full throttle and the smell of fresh cut grass and lawn mower exhaust in the morning. He’s always tinkered with stuff and been able to fix or diagnose gear.
