Recently our New England and NYC DP teamed up for NBA Media Day with the Philadelphia 76ers! Here is what New England DP Roger Woodruff had to say about their shoot:
My apprentice and I recently made the trip down to Philadelphia for the 76ers media day. We teamed up with our NYC DP, David Romain, to shoot some interviews for TNT. It’s always great to work with David and it usually means we’re going to have a smooth day. This shoot was no exception.
We were shooting some white backdrop interviews. We used two 300w Nanlites with softboxes to light the backdrop. The key light was my 720b Nanlite. I used another 300w and softboxes as a fill. There was no need for a hair light as the backdrop bounced back so much light already to give some separation.
David and I shot on two Sony FX9’s. I used a 40mm Zeiss Batis lens on the wide shot and a 85mm on the tight. We used the Atomos Shogun to match and monitor shots.
All in all it was a pretty smooth shoot. It was awesome to shoot interviews with NBA stars, Paul George and Tyrese Maxey. They were great to work with and gave great interviews. I love shooting in Philly and can’t wait to do it again.
