Thirty-three drivers. 200 laps. 500 miles. It’s the 103rd year of the Indy 500, and Go To Team’s Texas DP, Roger Woodruff, could not be more excited!
Firestone and Chevrolet were in need of a Director of Photography to help capture the IndyCar’s “Spring Training” content. The content is going to be used for social media, as well as In-Store Video Screens.
Since the content was for social media, this required our crew to shoot for a vertical aspect ratio. Roger had never shot in vertical ratio before; however, conducting research, prior to shooting, on best in-camera markers to use helped out a ton. Most of the footage was captured in 4K. That said, some footage was captured as slow-motion footage in 2K. The location of the Spring Training was at The Circuit of the Americas, which is a 3.4-mile road course located outside of Austin, TX used for Indy 500 training.
The shoot spanned over two days and consisted of capturing footage of the cars driving around the track, pit crew B-roll, and interviews.
