Have you ever been watching the big game and wonder where those bright yellow yard lines come from? Well, Assignment Desk recently teamed up with Henry Ford’s Innovation Nation and Litton Entertainment to bring you the inside scoop on Sportsvision, the technology that makes it easier to stay in on the action of the game. CBS News correspondent, Mo Rocca sat down with Sportvision to take a look at what makes these visualizations possible.
The Emmy Award winning technology that uses the the Virtual Yellow 1st & Ten® system with patented video overlay technology creates the illusion that a yellow first-down line is painted on the field. It even allows players to cross over and stand on the line, as if it is real. Sportvision unveiled this technology in 1998, allowing viewers to see the required distance needed to earn a first down for each play, forever changing the way we watch sports.
The Assignment Desk team is always pumped to be learning about new and interesting technology – we are pretty big “techies” ourselves. For this shoot we used a HDX900, as well as an external recorder (Odyssey 7Q) for all of the interviews and b-roll.
